Ha! I remember one time I spent my allowance (all $5 of it -huge amount of money back then) on a back issue of X-Men.
My Dad was outraged. He already had been on the fence about taking us to the comic shop in the first place, but when he saw I had come out with only ONE comic and blown my whole allowance he almost made me take it back.
lol I never talked so fast in my 10 year old life, but I managed to convince him to let me keep it. Whew! X-Men 137, death of Jean Grey. Well, her first death anyway...
